Colin Dexter 1

I avoided Colin Dexter Books
Until not long ago.
I'd seen them on the goggle box
And didn't want to know.

What's the point of reading
What Morse had solved that night
With Lewis and that Mr Strange
To help him with his plight.

However, as luck had it,
I bought a Dexter book
But it sat alone for ages
Before I took a look.

From page one it hit me,
These people aren't the same;
There was a certain similitude
But only in the name.

I couldn't put my Dexter down
And cursed the last full stop
But pulled myself together
And went to the Charity Shop.

Colin Dexter 2

My Saturday search for Dexter books
Has now come to an end
I bought a set in a charity shop
Ten pounds I had to spend.

But now I'm back from whence I came,
Before my search for Morse
What shall I do without the hope?
I'll read the books, of course.
